During one of my travel, I met a student of mystics, a spiritual wayfarer. While we talked in great lengths about the formation of universe and its secrets during our walks before sunrise. One day, he decided to reveal an old principle and a secret which had been passed down by the masters. Even after hundreds of years the principle still holds the truth, he said but
Only if one is willing to be…
The Principle
Every day when you wake up in the morning, when you see your self in the mirror, repeat this phrase,
Thank you for making me perfect, and giving me a beautiful face
It doesn’t matter what religion you follow; spirituality is within us (I will talk about this later); all you need to do is first thing when you wake up and look at yourself in the mirror or in this era selfie mode, you repeat this phrase three times,
thank you for making and perfect and giving me a beautiful face.
OK! not what I had expected.
A mystical truth ought to be different, right? It ought to be simple, yet powerful and full of profound meaning. When I was told a year before this that all I needed to do was give up all my worries to a higher being, that I could understand. I could visualize taking each worry from my head, and place it in a box, which then was donated to the Universe to take care of it without my controlling the outcome. That was profound in its simplicity, as well as the sharp visuals it allowed me to have each night before I went to bed.
But this?
I took this principle but it didn’t sink in my heart. I thought that maybe since he is a student, he probably made a mistake and I think he could tell from my expressions that I was not ready for it. We parted our ways after he felt that I was not ready.
Vanity
I wrote the principle down and didn’t think much about it, until I heard this from another guru of mine and this time I started to think and ponder.
All I could think of this phrase was Vanity
I mean the idea of looking at yourself and saying that you are perfect and have a beautiful face, it not only has arrogance but self-conceit written all over it. I had image of Al pacino, in the Devil’s Advocate repeating again and again.
Vanity definitely my favorite sin.
Its the exact opposite of what we are trying to achieve. I went through my notes and pulled up the principle, until I fell asleep. I woke up in the middle of the night and there it was my
aha moment
Revelation
The essence behind this principle is not vanity but the opposite. In fact it runs even deeper. Repeating this phrase three times sets the tone for your whole day.
The instant you repeat this phrase, its like your brain re-wires it self. Consider this a shot of espresso, or a latte or fresh fruit smoothie for the brain. It sets the mood and positive thinking is set in. The principle is a positive affirmation which not only helps you even you have struggles and obstacles, the language of the mind is already tuned to be positive.
Do you need to take other factors into consideration when the times are tough? Definitely, but the principle helps you in a very positive manner. Remember the saying an apple a day keeps the Dr. away. So, principle a day keeps the bad mood away.
Try the principle for 21 days x 2 and let us know how you feel about. I will write more about the significance of 21 days times x 2.
